Having a hard time removing a GE hub nut

I'm using a spanner wrench and a small sledge hammer and I realize it is left threaded, but it still isn't budging.  Any pointers?  This is the first time I had to get a basket out of a GE.

Could you cut it off? I seem to have to cut the old Maytag ones off every now and then.

Yeah, I guess I could.  I'm just trying to save the mod shaft and basket.  I didn't get that desperate yet.  The motor is bad so I'm parting it out.  I'll try not to cut into the shaft.
