Whirlpool gold ice block

Hello,
I have a 6-8 year old Whirlpool Gold (the word Conquest is also written on it) side by side fridge with 2 problems.

1) The water dispenser drips very slowly but consistently. But I've seen other threads that deal with that problem.

2) The bigger problem is that the ice slowly melts and refreezes in the dispenser so it becomes blocked. It also leaks and refreezes outside of the ice holder so the removable ice holder is frozen in place and not possible to remove without spending quite a while chipping away at it. Even for the day or so after the dispenser is ice block free, the ice cubes don't seem like they're coming out quite as easily as I think they're supposed to.

Other info: The ice freezes and comes out of the ice maker just fine. Everything else in the freezer stays frozen. The rest of the fridge/freezer seems to be working fine. I'm sick of opening up the freezer and smashing the even recently made ice to break it apart. Model #GS5SHAXTB01.

You got a bad water valve. It is dripping like a faucet.

I agree with JW. Time to replace the water valve.
