 Sorry for not having the model number but I think this might be a common problem.

Okay for the past 4 months I have had a repeting  problem with my side by side fridge.

Every six weeks,  the return vent on the lower left side of my fridge gets clogged with Ice. The attached picture is the vent cover.

After about 10-15 minutes with a hair dryer I can defrost the ice block down to the styrofoam and the refridgerator works perfectly.  

Is there a General  schamatic for this part of a typical side by side?

Where does this vent system lead to? I cant see into the wall that divides the freezer and refirdgerator.

What would cause this vent to continually freeze over?

Is there a defrost portion for this area?

Just looking to ee what I can do to prevent this from happening.

Just to update....
-I made sure there was a super good seal around the doors which there is.
-The top vent into the freezer is clearly open.
- I removed the panel covering the coil and fan. there was a small block of ice which I removed with my hand in the upper right corner but overall the coil looked great with little frost.
- My Ice maker suddenly stopped working!@!!!!!!!!!! No water is getting into the ice maker but the motor is turning.
- Compressor is somewhat hot to the touch and I cleaned all of the coild under the refridge.

Put some water in the ice maker. If it kicks out a batch you have a bad water valve. If ice is in the mold waiting to be harvested you have a bad ice maker.

Thanks. Looks like ice maker is good. What is causing this can't to continually freeze up?

If the nozzle is freezing up on the pour spout, then the water valve is dripping like an old worn out faucet would. This is causing a stalagmite over the fill tube. Melt the ice, replace the valve and party on!

Okay Great. Whay would cause the lower return vent in the fridge to freeze up. My fridge temp climbs to high 60's over a six week peroid.

I may have to make a new thread I think I may have screwed this one up by not originally posting my model number and trying to write from my phone. I think I confused everyone including myself!

Remove the service panel and look for ice.
