dryermotor runs backwards
« on: March 24, 2008, 10:50:52 PM »
I recently replaced the thermal fuse, hi-limit thermostat and door switch all at the same time on my Amana dryer. dryer heats up and runs but the drum turns counter clockwise. the belt is on the same way as before. crossed wires on the thermal fuse maybe?

Model nde2335ayw

Here's the wiring layout of your dryer. You can figure out what's what from here. If you got the common and NC wires reversed on the door switch, it might give you trouble..

i dont think its possible to make that motor turn backwards even if you were trying too(without reversing the start winding wires internally)
check the belt routing again

the only way you are going to get a split phase motor to go backwards is to take it apart and turn the field around.

The door switch is connected right. Am I wrong in assuming the drums in a dryer always turn clockwise. If some do turn counter clockwise and the dryer seems like its venting ok, maybe I'm good to go.

the only way you are going to get a shaded pole motor to go backwards is to take it apart and turn the field around.
or you reverse energize the start winding as on older washing machine spin cycles... :), but that can't be the cause here because the start & run windings have one common connection.

Does the blower blow the exhaust out ?, then you're OK...

To me, this is about as important as which direction that toilet water swirls when you flush. Who cares as long as it flushes, right?
