GE refrigerator not cooling at the top of the freezer

GE refrigerator customer noticed that the ice cube trays where not freezing .. but her vegs in the crisper where frozen...

when I first got there I checked that the evaporator fan was running... but noticed that the door was not closing by it shelf .. fixed the gasket and lubed the cam  on the door... thought it was all good....

Next day customer called back still have the same problem... this time no fan motor hit the switch and nothing from the fan....this is a DC fan motor could it be an intermittent problem with the fan motor or am I missing something?

Check your freezer thermistor and I have had a lot of issues with the control board. Not many problems with the fan motors.

Ditto on the control board.  In the last two years I've ordered 12 control boards and 2 fan motors.  Since it's a truck stock item, I'll install the board and leave the door open until the fan turns on for liner protection mode.  If it comes on I know I'm good to go.

I keep one on my truck as well, and have replaced them at about the same rate, but nice trick on leaving the door open!  Anything to save time.  Also keeping the thermistors in stock, I've replaced about as many of them as boards.

So Get this...

 I get there the fan not running. close the switch lights go out. but no fan motor

change the fan motor and thermistors .

plug in the refer open the door fan motor comes on lights on...

close the switch lights go out and fan motor stops...

compressor comes on .. close the door switch still No fan Motor....

So bad switch? miss wired switch? bad control? or something else?

why would the light go no/off normally if it is miswired

I vote with tgoods, I've seen relays on the board cause this type of problem.  O0

Definitely sounds like either wiring or the control board that is tying the two together with the freezer door switch.  I would double check your wiring, then just replace the control board...

symptoms of a failed control board

1) evaporator fan motor not working.
2) compressor not staying on
3) clicking relay on control.

Is there any others?
