Frigidaire washer can't access diagnostics

New to this brand. Blinking lights on panel. Cycle indicators change with knob setting, but get short beeps when trying to start machine. Found tech sheet but controller would not respond to pushing start and pause/cancel buttons at same time, so I can't get error codes. Replaced door solenoid with used spare but didn't help, suspect controller, but am wondering if I'm missing something. Just realized; does this unit have a child lock?

Wake the washer by pressing any button.
2. Wait 5 seconds.
3. Press and hold the START/PAUSE and CANCEL
buttons simultaneously. As long as the buttons are
held, the failure code will appear in the display as
an “E” followed by two numbers, a number and a
letter or two letters. The control will beep and the
