Kitchenaid dishwasher not starting

Hi All:

I have a Model KUDS01FLWH1 dishwasher with the control panel on top.  It's been a while, but the plastic coating on the start button peeled off and recently the start button has completely stopped working.  The others light up, just the start doesn't.  Do I need to replace the whole control panel to get the washer going?  Or both the control panel and the user interface?

Any suggestions in figuring this out would be appreciated!

Okay.  Now I feel like I'm talking to myself.  But I ran some diagnostic combination I found on the web by pressing High Temp Scrub - Energy Saver Dry - High Temp Scrub - Energy Saver Dry.  All the lights appear on the control including control lock, sanitised and clean LEDs.  What does this mean?  I would have thought if the control is pouched, that these lights would be tied to the start button.  Yes/No?
