hi:
  I have a 15,100BTU window type A/C,  it have a gas leak, the compressor has a Tag of      R-410A Gas, my question is, Can I add R-22 gas instead of 410?, if not,? why?

No ,because it is designed for 410.Is it still under warranty?

no warranty,  i know this compressor is designed for 410, just want to know if the difference of gas  is related to environmental issues, an not affect if i add the R22
or should be use the 410 because the compressor could be damage,

NO! Do NOT use R-22 as a replacement of 410a. Because of the much higher discharge pressure and cooling capacity, R-410A should ONLY be used in equipment designed specifically for R-410A. You cannot Mix the two... Also you should not use the same gauges or hoses..

Different compressor and system
Different compressor oils.
If they are mixed it will contaminate the unit beyond repair.

Have you done many R-410a , I have only done the new PTAC's . Very high pressures .. I would not like to see a braze let go.. a leak would be ugly...
