You can in fact convert a 4 terminal 3 wire GE element to a 2 wire 2 terminal connection.

If it was converted from a 4 prong to a 2 prong, then I'm a bit at a loss.  I don't know how they converted it or what type of parts to replace it with.  Can you convert it back to a 4 prong?  Would it be better to do that or to just try to find something that will work with the way it is now?

If it had a normal infinite switch, a two prong element would work.  Since it's a pushbutton switch, I would go back to four prong, three wire element.  If you could figure out how to wire a two prong to the pushbutton switch without shorting it out, you would only get two levels of heat, low and high.

Perhaps that's why it doesn't work now anyway...they probably shorted it out.  Lol
