Author Topic: whirlpool top loader washer - minimal spin, agitator not 100% (Read 2275 times)

I need to know what parts to order to fix my 6 year old washer. Over a couple of years the spin became weaker and worse and had almost totally stopped. The agitator is also a little weaker now. I have had 3 repairmen look at it [but 2 would not even open the machine to look inside!]. They all think that the transmission needs to be replaced. The 1 who actually opened the machine said that I also had worn "dog agates" causing the agitator not working well. When I went to this site to order the things, I saw these forums. So, do I need a new transmission and dog agates or is there a less expensive and more appropriate part/parts?

This washer is very easy to repair.

$3 for them dogs.

$12 for the coupler
Note: The most common probo with these washers is the coupler but you could also have a pump problem. These videos shows how to replace the coupling, the clutch and lots of other stuff on your washer:

If the investment in repairing my Whirlpool is so cheap, I must hang on to it! Thank goodness I can avoid buying a whole new transmission.

Dear JW Webster,
How do I order the parts I need from this site? I want to do that to return the favor of your advice.
My Whirlpool washer is a 220 volt Super Capacity Ultima Care II top loader bought in 2005. It has a model # on it - 3xgsc 9455jq
When I look at the catalog I connected to from this site, there are 2 different motor couplings:

Motor Coupling
Item # 1195967

Motor Coupling
Item # 1200184

Is one for a top load and the other for a front load? Which one do I need to buy for my top loader Whirlpool 220 v model?

OK everyone, I went to the RepairClinic.com link to support this site and typed in all the info, copied the model # exactly as printed on my machine, checked that it is the correct model # on the internet, BUT the website will not accept the model number of my washer, and will not let me go to the next step and therefore I am stymied - I cannot order the parts I need for my washing machine!!! What do I do? I will try other sites for parts if I cannot use the link from here.

Either one will fit your washer. The more expensive one is built to with stand a little more wear and tear.
