Misdiagnosis CPRT36-T

I asked a company to check my system, the tech they send out said my compressor was bad and it would cost me $1080 to repair. However, when he replaced the compressor the system still does not work.

Should I be obligated to pay them?

Bottom dollar no fix no pay. That is my philosophy. If I ain't fixed it why should I charge? When the unit is fixed pay the bill if it ain't then don't pay it.

If there was nothing wrong with the compressor and they replaced it because of misdiagnosing it then I would not pay for it.

What were the symptoms requiring service?

Never mind.
I read your other post about a sticking reversing valve.

That is why the need for testing of technicians.
Although I tutor for NATE, there is one main problem
that is "No Hands On" required.
I have looked over HVAC Excellence and found that "Hands On"
is a requirement.
The other problems are Salesmechanics as I call them.
Sorry but it seems A&E Factory Service falls into this
catagory. Yet they are not alone. Before taking ill a company
ask me to find them mechanics so I sent them two that I had
known. These mechanics were laid off after 16 months.  :(
I asked the owner of the company why and to my suprise he
stated "They are Great Mechanics", so I said what was the problem to which
he answered "They don't sell anything, they just make repairs".  ???

Thats crazy. I would think he would be glad to have good techs, guess not.
