The truth about cell phones and the Do Not Call Registry
« on: July 24, 2015, 07:31:29 PM »
You may place your cell phone number on the National Do Not Call Registry to notify marketers that you don't want to get unsolicited telemarketing calls.

There is no deadline for registering a cell phone number on the Do Not Call Registry.

FCC regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers without prior consent.

There is only one Do Not Call Registry, operated by the federal Trade Commission, https://www.donotcall.gov/

The Do Not Call REgistery accepts registrations from both cell phones and land lines.

To register by telephone, call 1-888-382-1222. You must call from the phone number that you want to register.
To register online https://www.donotcall.gov/ you will have to respond to a confirmation email.

Once registered, a telephone number stays on the Do Not Call Registry until the registration is canceled or service for the number id discontinued.

I have had my cell phone on the Do Not Call Registry since July 4th 2010 and it really seem to help at the time.

Just in the last few weeks I have received a couple unwanted automated calls so I decided to see if my number was still on the Do Not Call list and sure enough it is.

There are three things you can do at https://www.donotcall.gov/

1. Register a Phone Number.
2. Verify a Registration.
3. Submit a Complaint.

I'm going to try and give the "Submit a Complaint" one a try the next time I receive a unwanted call. :D

I'm getting webpage not available.

Some telemarketing companies give the finger to the no call list. They are some of the burrowing ticks of society.

Hmm, checked the links when I posted and just checked them again.
The links always work for me. Maybe the site was down when you checked it, don't know...

I have all of my phone numbers (even my company supplied cell phone) on the Do Not Call Registry. I update my registration once a year. But i have noticed lately that I'm getting two to three auto dialer calls a day on my land line. When I tell them to put me on the do not call list I anyways get a chuckle and an ok (like they're rolling their eyes when they say it). Is there some loophole we don't know about?

I've noticed that when I'm in a customers home, they get calls on their land line too. And when I ask, they're on the do not call registry.

It's a government conspiracy! :)

I usually have that Auto dialer connect to a person then threaten to find them and hang them by their tongue from the rafters.  :tickedoff:
