Well, it's March. Like clockwork my MDE2400AZW has stopped heating again. Maytag is coming out again tomorrow. I am going to recommend they issue a recall. We clear the lint trap religiously, but somehow lint gets around it and fills the door, which also fills the chassis, and also fills our ductwork. In order to clean it properly, I need to disassemble the dryer to clear it out, plus either climb behind it to clean the duct, or get on a 30 foot ladder to clean it from the outside. I assume this is not what Maytag expected us to go through when building this machine.
If they redesign the door and issue a recall, this could all be prevented. I'm thinking in the meantime of making a permanent secondary filter on the air inlet in the bottom of the chassis.
I'm interested in others' experiences with the lint collection on their MDE2400.
By the way, the link to the manual is down again - hopefully you don't mind reposting it for me and others as this page is near the top of the search results for this dryer.
Thanks!
