Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator - crushed ice only

Hi guys,

Wondering if you can help me fix my ice-dispensing issue. My Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator (model GSS22SGRFSS) dispenses ONLY crushed ice, whether it's in crushed or cubed ice mode. It has no issues making ice or dispensing water. We've had a few related issues repaired in the past couple months (water/ice dispenser stopped working altogether for a while, line froze in the door, motor died, etc.), so not sure if this is a byproduct of those fixes.

I did some research and it looks like the arm that turns on/off the crusher feature is the issue - part #329 in this diagram: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5231333&diagram_id=23949628#d23949628. Probably not the arm itself, but perhaps a related spring or mover. Any tips on how to test and repair this?

Check your solenoid,If your getting crushed your coupler should be good.Your solenoid needs to move to send cubed ice.When you hit cubed you should get power to it.

It could have gotten moisture in the solenoid.  With the Ice bucket out, try and move the plastic arm up and down manually.  If it doesn't move, hit it with a hair drier.  You may need to disassemble and remove the whole assembly  to remove all of the moisture.

OK, I've got the drawer out but I'm unclear as to what exactly the solenoid is - the diagram seems to indicate it's the whole rear plastic assembly, which doesn't make sense. Anyone have a picture or better diagram of what I'm looking for?
