Goodman heat pump very fast cycling

6 hours is about 3 hours too long to change out a compressor.
Is the valve stuck in heat or cool mode?

You have to make sure that the cycle changes from cooling to heating and vice versa as selected. if cycles in order it's most probably the sensor.

Most likely it was the reversing valve.  I refused to pay the company for the warranty compressor work and then later I went to them and negotiated a settlement with them even though the tech was horrible and the company was just as bad. 

I installed a new Trane system through a different dealer, with life-time parts and labor.  All I have to do is pay $150 once a year for the two PM service calls.  This system will keep the house cool even on 98-degree days while with the Goodman the temp in the house would soar at 95-drees outside.  And both systems are 13-seer.
