Need to unplug - wait several hrs - plug back to make dryer work

Good morning,

I have an issue with my Whirlpool GEW9868KQ2 dryer.
After one cycle, I need to unplug it, wait several hours and plug it back so it works again.
I have changed the Door Switch (it was broken), checked the contact, changed the Electronic Board but I still have the issue.
After the first cycle, either the Touch Pad doesn't respond or it responds only partially ( I can select the cycle but it won't start). I have run the touch pad test and it seems to work as intended.

Any clue?

So are you saying the unit runs thru a complete cycle and then will not restart or it stops during the cycle?

Case scenario (from this week end):
-ran a complete cycle on Saturday Night => no issue
- some items not dry enough and ran a second cycle immediately following the first => no issue
- let the dryer plugged overnight and try to run a cycle in the morning => nothing worked , no answer from touch pad
- unplug and wait an hour or so => half the touch pad was responding
- unplug and wait about 8 hrs => dryer works again

At the beginning, I thought it was a false contact problem. I was disconnecting and reconnecting the connector fro the touch pad to the control board and it seemed to solve the issue. Then it started acting more strangely. I replaced the board but the problem is still here.

I would really appreciate some help. I am running out of hair to pull.

If only half the touch pad works some of the time ,we may need a touch pad.

Yes, it looks like I will have to replace the touch pad. It reacts each time I wiggle the connector ribbons between the pad and the board.
