Sears Elite II
« on: March 09, 2011, 06:32:20 PM »
We have an elite II front loader about two years old. It started vibrating real bad. I called for repair to come out and look it over. They told me it is vibrating because we have it on laminate flooring. I told him I don't get it because it just started doing it, they said washing machines can not be on laminate flooring. Does anyone have an idea before I go buy another machine and it won't be sears.

Thanks
Brian

I wonder if stacking the dryer on top of it wouldn't stop the vibrating?

Thanks for the reply, I really don't want to do that if I don't have to.

Yes one of them replaced the shocks, both used a flashlight andwatched the drum to see if it moved. The first one said it looked liked it was moving and the lead tech came out with shocks and said the shaft could not be bent and stated again washers can't be on laminate floors. I asked why it just started after a little over a year. He just said "again washers cannot be on laminate floor" and left.

That sounds like a "programmed" reply that they practice every day in front of a mirror but its possible something in your floor structure has changed or washer not perfectly level. Maybe your laminate has loosened up.

I thought that as well added cross bracing, new flooring and tonight took it out and set it on concreate and it still bouncing like mad.

You haven't posted a complete model number yet. Are the tub springs in place?

If you put rubber pads under the feet it will reduce the vibration on laminate flooring.

This may sound silly and elementary, but I've found that with front loaders, washing with less than a full load really causes balance problems and shaking.

The common reasons for shaking are weak flooring, shipping bolts still inserted, non HE detergent, too much HE detergent, small loads and not draining properly. Rubber pads general cause more issues than they help. Can you lift the spin basket at all without the outer tub moving. Even 1/8 inch play is too much.
