If you change the check switch and can buy a fuse (I don't they are available separate) the amount of money will be equal to the whole assembly. That and if they blow again you have paid MORE money to repair than originally replacing the whole unit .

I tried 3 and went back on all of them, that's when Maytag still sold the genuine fuse. There is a reason the fuse blows is because one or both switches are bad. Which one do you change if both check OK ? By playing games with them it is a waste of time and money. It is not worth the gamble.

Well I tell ya I sold a lot of them fuses and a bunch of them check switches but never because both were bad at the same time.

Doing Maytag Factory work I always changed the unit as a whole as it wasn't cost effective in trips back ,gas cost ETC. I learned to ALWAYS use Factory parts.(for liability reasons) Always take the time to diagnose properly the first time. A happy customer is a returning customer. That being said, no call backs is a lot better than wasting time and parts. Then losing a customer because they feel you aren't competent when you keep coming back for the same problem.

I had one of these a while back with a bad fuse. I bypassed it  cause I had no replacement on hand to see if it would work. I ended up tripping the circuit breaker in my house after I plugged it back in. I replaced the lid switch assembly for $35 bucks and it was fine.
