Electric Dryer LEQ2152ES0 not heating error code e56
« on: November 18, 2008, 11:40:37 AM »
Help.  my husband is stumped on this one.
This Frigidaire LEQ2152ES0 dryer approx 2-3 years old stopped drying clothes.  I've seen these posts before....Dryer will run then after a few mins will stop and all the lights will flash.    We ran the diagnostic tests and came up with error code e56, which of course is not in our owners manual.

What we have done so far.
Checked the house fuses....they are working correctly
Thoroughly cleaned out the lint in dryer and vent
Replaced the thermoster, still no heat.  We have the dryer torn apart and we have checked all the heat related circuits and are now stumped.

Any advice, as most people with these problems we are running out of clean clothes and hate the idea of having to make a laundramat run.

Thanks
Dee

More than likely the code is actually e5b, which is the no-heat fault.

I have attached the service manual for this series of dryer. If you have replaced the thermister, then the board is the next likely suspect. Read the manual to determine what's next. Having a meter is crucial.

Thanks a bunch for the manual.  Though it took awhile for us to find time we finally went through the testing.  Luckily the board tested ok.  We are now 99% sure it is the heating element.  As if ok it should have read 120V, and 0 if not. The meter only show 1.2V when tested.  Hubby is going to test it again tonight and if we get the same low results a heating element will be on order.

 :)

Uh...you test the element  with the OHM meter, not by voltage.

By the way, if the element only shows 120 volts instead of 240, then you are still looking at a bad board. It contains the heat relay that powers the 240 volts to the element, comprende?

Bad board!!  Bad...go stand in the corner :)

Using the flow chart for the problem the tests were ok for themmestor, control board, thermostat, open wire from terminal block.  The one that was not correct was the heating element.  It told us to remove power from the dryer, reconnect the black wire from rl2 and disconnect the plug from the drive motor.  restart the dryer and measure the voltage drop between yellow and white wire in the plug.  If 120 VAC defective motor if 0 defective heating element.  We got 1.3 VAC when tested.
Note the board test threw 240 VAC as it should have.

Hey Dee, did you get your issue resolved?  Did you have to replace the heating element?  If so, how much did it cost?
Thanks!
