Whirlpool dryer won't shut off

I have a Whirlpool Dryer LER8648LG0 that will not shut off.

In any of the dry cycles, it starts fine, and heats as normal.  The timer knob, however, does not move.  If I turn the timer knob to the off position, the buzzer sounds and the dryer shuts off.

Probably need to replace the timer.  I think it's part AP3135794, but would approcaite if someone could confirm.

Also, any tips on how to replace?

Take the wires off the timer motor and check them for continuity. If the timer motor has continuity then you might have a problem elsewhere. In the world of wp dryers their are the autodry type dryer and the electronic sensing dryer. Yours is an autodry type. How do I know that? You dryer does not have sensing bars nor does it have a board up by the timer. Auto dry dryers utilize a system of cycling the timer motor with the element. You say it is heating ok so I think you are on the right track.

That is the correct timer for the model number you posted.

The knob itself comes straight off the timer. It has a slot in it so the dial indicator will always be in the correct position. Yank the knob off the timer, then lift the tab in the back so that yall can twist the timer a hair and drop it out the backside. All the switches are removed in that same manor. A tab locks the switches in place. Lift that tab and release the switch with a slight twist after the knobs are removed.
