Whirlpool Duet Sport WFW8400TW basket won't turn AT ALL!!!

I heard a noise coming form the laundry room... a heavy clicking sound like something was trying to turn.  I noticed a very heavy blanket was put in the washer on the quick wash setting and immediately turned the washer off and removed the soaked blanket.  It felt like it weighed a ton.

I scooped out most of the remaining water and closed the washer and turned it back on for another listen.  The same heavy clicking as if something was trying to catch, but couldn't.  The basket didn't move at all, so I turned the washer back off, opened the door and gave the basket a spin by hand.  It rotated no problem in both directions.  So I reset the cycle to see if it would catch and agitate or spin.  Nothing. I don't even think it began to fill before I turned it back off due to the loud clicking.

What could be wrong with it?  Can I repair it myself?  Or should I try to find and identical washer?

Let the motor cool off unplug the machine. Take the heavy stuff to the laundry matt.

  It sounds like something could be stuck in the pump. Remove the lower front access panel and uncsrew the pump cleanout plug and see if anything is in there. Might be something in the pump you can't see also.
