GE Fridge Water dispenser malfunction

My GE Fridge model ZFSB25DMDSS stopped dispensing water yesterday. I went through the troubleshooting procedure in the owner’s manual- verified water line is flowing OK and replaced the filter (new filter filled with water). The ice maker is filling and making cubes OK.

When you press the dispenser no water but a loud humming coming from the back of the fridge. Suspect this is some sort of stuck solenoid.

Please advise.

Sounds like your water line is frozen and won't let the water pass.
Remove the water out hose from the solenoid in the rear and have someone press  water lever in front if you get no water the valve is bad.
If you do get water the line is blocked somewhere.

I find its easier for most people to disconnect the water line connector behind the bottom panel on the front.  If water comes out there when the lever is pressed its a frozen water line in the freezer door.

there is not an easy way to thaw it out. 

If that is the problem, the easiest way to fix it is to turn the fridge off, or unplug it for a day or two and it will thaw out.

For the frozen line in the door, I used a steam cleaner and a wire and about 45 minutes time and have completed 3 so far, once done I have them run it a bit each day and so far it works. CAREFULLY run steam through the line at the bottom connector of the door, a wire ( picture hanging wire works great as you fray the end slightly) TAKE YOUR TIME.

It fixed itself. The water is running again. I guess the line somehow thawed out. We’ve had unseasonably warm days, but cold nights- maybe that had something to do with it.
