My fridge won't quit running

Our fridge is keeping things cold and frozen but it will not stop running and compressor gets hot. we tried unplugging it over night and it is still doing the same thing.  the only way you can make it stop running is by turning down freezer temp to zero. help

Try beating on the cold control. If the fridge stops, then probably need a new cold control.

This refrigerator does not have a electro-mehanical cold control.
It uses a encoder board in the fresh food section that gets its information from thermisters to control temperature through the main control board on the back of the refrigerator.
Thermisters are inexpensive.
Change them out first.
It may correct your entire problem.
