Fridge stopped working

The fridge stopped working yesterday.  Lights come on but both refridgerator and freezer do not work.

Thanks Tuco.  I'm pretty sure I've located the relay.  It's on the side of the compressor.  I've taken the cover off but I can't figure out how to remove the relay from the bracket that it's attached to.  Also my relay looks a little different than the ones in the picture. It's black and has I think four wires attached to it. There's a round switch type thing on the top.  My compressor fan does not work either.

The relay is under a cover attached to the side of the compresser. After you remove the cover, the relay should slide off a 3 prong wire  plug.

The new one will just slide or plug back in. Then attch the protective cover.

If your fan motor is not running either, you have a power problem.
The defrost timer is under the rear of the refrigerator near the compressor.
This timer may be stuck in the defrost mode and not sending power to the compressor and fan motor.
Locate the timer and turn it clockwise. If the compressor and fan come on,replace the defrost timer.
If you turn it and they do not come on,check power to and thru the cold control thermostat in the fresh food section.

I can't locate the defrost timer.  I've checked all around the compressor. How big is it?

Got the relay off.  I bought a universal one but it doesn't have the same plug holes in the back.  They won't line up and there's three of them. The guy at the store said that most of the repair techs use universal relays. Any more information would be helpful.

Remove the kickplate in front and look underneath for the timer.
Could also possibly be in the left rear leg support near the condenser.
If no fan and no compressor power find the defrost timer and turn it manually.
The relay pulls straight off,not up or down.

I don't think its the compressor or the relay since the fan isnt working either.

It pretty much has to be the defrost timer or the cold control as mentioned earlier.

the defrost thermostat is usually not hard to find.  its in the back, behind the controls in fridge, or behind the front kickplate.
