Carrier Heat pump OAT 25HPA

I have a Carrier heat pump,about 3 yrs old, with a progammable Carrier control panel model# A07049.

The problem is the OAT display on the control panel is way off.  Its about 30 F outside yet control panel report 73.  The OAT does varies throughout the day but has been incorrect for a couple weeks now.

Any ideas or thoughts?

Are you certain no one pushed some buttons and you are reading indoor temps?

I don't believe so.  The actual inside temp. and the reading two different readings on the control box don't match up.  I also have a "weather station" verify the information.  My programmable control box displays two temp constantly--indoor and outdoor.  It appears the indoor reading is correct, but not the outdoor.  I guess I should track the outdoor readings which might help the troubleshooting.

There is a thermister attached to the control board in the outside unit which projects the readings to your OAT. Either the sensor or the board can be bad.
