Jenn Air exhaust fan switch is BROKEN

Hi! I managed to pry out the switch from under the metal plate. The actual switch is broken. I think someone tried to fix it once before...I called Jenn Air, the part is  PS2002868. It is no longer available. What can I do, what switch can I replace this with? The wires are intact, its just that the plastic is broken, I need a new switch in there...I havent called a local appliance repair yet, because I am not sure they can actual rebuild something, they like to order parts...and I know that wont work..HELP

I looked up your model number and the factory part number for the fan switch is, part # 704573

The PS2002868 you listed I believe is a partselect number. Did Jenn Air really give you a PS part number?

I checked with our affiliates, sears and two whole sale parts dealers I work with. All of them listed the switch as (NLA) no longer available.

I even looked on ebay for you, but did not see one listed at this time.

You maybe out of luck.

Seems to be a basic on/off single pole single throw rocker switch.
You could probably find a suitable replacement at any Radio Shack Store or home improvement store.

The $20 part is a replacement equiv that will work but won't be exactly the same. You gotta call them too. They gonna tell you this ain't an exact match and their is no refund on the part.

You may have already fixed your fan switch so this post may help those with similar problems.  The Fan Switch for Jenn Air can be replaced by a Rocker Switch which has the same Terminals and where the Rating is the same or more resistant.  I just replaced the switch on my Jenn Air Stovetop Range model S156.  My switch has 4 cables.  Yours has 2 cables. I found my switch at Carlingtech.com.  Please look on their online catalog to find a 2 terminal switch.  For those with the same Range the Switch is TIGM51-6S-BL-NBL.  I have had the switch problem for 4 years so I know there are many people out there that need this switch.  The following shows you how to replace the bad switch with a totally different one.

Important Details. TURN OFF THE POWER FOR THE STOVE FROM YOUR HOME FUSE BOX--220 VOLTS 1) The switch can have 6 cables connected but I used only 4.  2) The terminals are .25".  Unfortunately two of the terminals on the original switch are a little smaller.  I used a Dremel  with a grinding attachment to make the terminals smaller.  3) Connect the wires to the same location as the old switch and don't use the 2 extra terminals. 4) Get an image of the switch by calling Carlingtontech.  I cut out the switch layout image and used a marker to trace the shape onto the Jenn Air fan switch cover. I then used the Dremel with a steel cutting wheel to cut out the square shape of the switch.  Cover was made of Aluminum so it wasn't to hard to cut. 5) notice that the cover has two sections. I found two nuts in the garage and used them to tighten/put them together.  It  self threaded due to being made of aluminum.  6) Disconnect the cables from the switch and slip it into the cut-out then reconnect the wires.  I will see if I can add some pictures later.    I didn't say it was going to be easy.

Thanks Smarte for the info.  The switch you mention is $6.64 at Mouser plus another $6.95 shipping, less than 1/3 the price of the fanswitch guy. Rather than grind down the terminals of the switch, it would probably be easier to snip off the wire terminals and crimp on some new ones.

the terminals are probably 3/16", so you can match those at any electrical or auto supply parts.

(still no luck getting 5/16" though    )

Reason for not changing the terminals and make them all the same size is to prevent you from putting the wrong wire on the wrong terminal of the switch.  I guess it is a safety thing so that was incorporated in the original switch's design.  Trimming the oversize terminals takes much less time than cutting the ends off/striping the wire/replacing terminals with new terminals and then risking that the wire is too short     Since you have to unplug the wires several times it is easy to forget which wire went on any specific terminal.   To each his own.  Glad I could help.
