Maytag Performa squeaking noise & clothes still wet

12/2001 Maytag Performa PAV5000 makes a loud squeaking noise at the end of the wash cycle and then again at the end of the spin cycle.  It doesn't matter if it is a small load or a large load....and the clothes are still pretty wet.  I have pulled out all the clothes, rearranged them and put them back in the washer and Spin again. It squeaks again and the clothes are about the same wetness.

I know it's old, but any ideas of what is wrong and if it's worth fixing?

A little wd40 will stop the brake squeal. The wet clothes could simply be a worn belt. If the belt is fine you may need to install a thrust kit. The main drive pulley wears out with age and won't allow the brake to release. Leaves the clothes wet. Here is a pictorial of that repair:
