Maytag front loader DOA

I have a compact front loader that lights up but then does nothing.  Not showing any codes.  just shows 55 on the display.  All the controls light up but none of them move when the buttons are pushed or the dial turned.
 
If the door lock is faulty i would guess it would throw a code at me...no?  Is it possible that the control panel is shot?   I know that is a bit of a rhetorical question.  How about, is it likely that the control board is shot?

If you have not downloaded it already here is the service manual for your washer.

I would check the control board for bad connections and see if there is a self test in the service manual that you can run the washer through.

Thanks for the link.  I can't get the darn thing to download so i'm still in the same boat.  The control board lights up and looks like it's ready to run but when you push the buttons nothing happens.
