This dryer runs fine for about an hour then it sounds like it gets bound up by something and the motor just stops.  A smell of something overheating appears shortly thereafter then i unplug it.  Once it cools down i can repeat the process almost to the minute.  I've checked the drum and blower and they both spin freely even when hot.  It sounds like the motor is seizing up for some reason.

Clean and or straighten your exhaust vent.
The max dry time should be one hour or less.

Trout is  exactly right.  I'd go so far as to say you probably have thin foil  duct on back, causing the problem. I made a few tips you can read here on the way to vent a Maytag.

Additionally, the stopping is an indication that certain bearing swelling has occurred in the  motor, which has its own internal overload. I am  letting you know that even if you correct your vent and have it cleaned, the motor may still persist in shutting off. Just prepare yourself for the eventuality of changing the motor.

Have the unit in my shop.  No vent hooked up.  I did clean a bunch of stuff out of the blower housing when i took it apart but, i think i got it all. As for the bearings going bad...would the tub and blower still move freely if they gave up the fight?

Thank you both for your help.  It is greatly appreciated.

Amp the motor while it is running to look for a load buildup the last few minutes.
Are you running timed dry or auto dry?
Does it do it with a no heat selection?
Is there end play in the motor shaft?

I'm using the timed dry.  I just tried it on fluff and it stopped after about 30 seconds.  I'mm suspecting it's the motor.

You have one of those motors that is  just bad...change it and be done with it. As long as there is voltage to the motor when this cuts out ( easily verified by monitoring the voltage), then you  know it's the motor, right?
