Lear Siegler Gas Space Heater- If power goes out tonight

Hi-  I have a 20 year old natural gas Lear Siegler space heater 4' x 3' with a fan and smoke stack.  If the power goes out in tonight's blizzard, how do I get the gas to turn on?  Even without the blower of course.  The old round thermostat has 2 wires that go to the heater.

Last winter it didn't go on when the power went out.  What's the millivolt thing?  It's my only heat and I live in the woods.  Thank you.

Dog you should invest in a new space heater. You can get an ODS Vent Free LP space heater from the hardware store. It does not require any power and a 3 brick one will heat a nice sized space. The heater has a built in thermostat that keeps the house comfy.
I really think you should get one. If the oxygen in the house gets low the heater will shut down. Check out the video:
