« on: January 06, 2011, 01:21:12 PM »
HELLO TO ALL. I NEED YOU GUYS INFINITE WISDOM.I HAVE PURCHASED A USED WASHER SO I CAN BETTER MY SKILLS,THE PROBLEM WITH THIS MACHINE IS THE THERMAL OVERLOAD OPENS WHILE TRYING TO SPIN,(NOT EVERY TIME). THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN WITH AN EMPTY TUB,JUST WITH WATER, LOW WATER LEVEL AND HIGH WATER LEVEL,SMELLED A HEAT SMELL INSTEAD OF RUBBER,TOOK BELTS OFF TURNED MOTOR ,PUMP,AND TRANNY BY HAND FELLS GOOD,REPLACED BELTS AND PUMP,STILL SAME PROBLEM ,THERE IS NO NOISE DURING AGITATE OR SPIN,TOOK WASHER APART,TUB BEARING AND SEALS LOOK GOOD,NO LEAKS,NO RUST,NOTHING BETWEEN SPIN BASKET.
WOULD YOU GUYS CONSIDER BAD MOTOR? DID NOT OHM MOTOR WINDINGS

                                                                             THANKS

Model LAT9306AAE

So when the motor over load opens I take it the motor is hot too.

If you are sure the tub bearings are good then it sounds like you have a bad motor to me.

On a side note please do not type in all CAPS. It makes it harder to read. :)
Hope you find our site helpful.

Yes the motor is hot.I will ohm out the motor later.i looked at the service manual for the washer, and it says start winding 4ohms & main windings 2ohms,this manual was not for my specific model,so i assume the single speed motor are all the same.

sorry about all caps                               thanks for your speedy reply

Low voltage will do the same. Below 115 volts. Remember the capacitor kits, maybe not if you are not an old fart like me.
