, the customer was complaining about the washer was not completely draining during the spin cycle and noticed it more with a large load than a small load. I did a quick once over of the machine to verify nothing was blocking the drain hose or pump, but the first thing I noticed was the drain hose was duct taped to the house drain. Keeping the hose secured is not a bad idea, but the drain hose must never be taped or sealed to the house drain because this will prevent air from flowing in or out of the drain system when the washer is draining during a wash. Much like filling a soda bottle with water and turning it up side down, the water will not flow out smoothly because it must replace the water with air. If the drain hose is sealed, air pressure will build up causing the water flow to greatly slow down, and on a large load, water may remain in the tub after the wash cycle. Removed the tape and instructed the customer on how to better secure the hose, now it works great.
