Wow. . . I appreciate your generous offer but I think maybe mine looked broken from my BAD pictures.  I don't have one to compare to but there does not look like anything is broken.  I have attached 3 more pictures for confirmation.

Now from that angle the part looks ok.
better start in on the tranny. I have one by the way out by the shop in a bucket. My buddy took a crow bar to it and knocked a hold in the cover. I told him he had to remove the agitator. LOL

Well. . . ..    I found my problem or at least "a" problem.  One fourth of the teeth on the main gear are sheared off.  Now my question / concern is should I believe that this a symptom rather than the problem.  What caused the failure?  Or does the part just fail over time from normal (albeit somewhat heavy use / family of 5 with 3 young kids) use?

What is my best bet?  Can I just replace the main gear?  If I do. . .   I obviously need to dump the oil and all the particles and clean it out.  What kind of oil do I use to replace it?  The washer is about 7 years old with the use described above.  I would like to fix this one if I can but do I need to just get a new washer?

The spin pawl looks fine. . . . .  I am just debating whether I should just find another machine on craigslist or somewhere.  Mostly because of how long it's going to take getting my machine back running.  My wife is going crazy already.  How much for your gear?  What kind of oil do I need. . . .  I'll need to see if I can find it locally.

Thanks

Wow. . . . Thanks!

I'll send you my address via email. . ..   I am all the way in Bend, Oregon.  I can send you a USPS Priority shipping label in a PDF file if that will work for you?

also. . . . am I going to be able to find the oil locally you think?
