I looked up the MCU and come up with part # 8182643.

It's not a cheap part!  :o

AppliancePartsPros.com has it for $489.75

RepairClinic.com has it for $494.70

I don't normally even look at the sears parts site being they are often higher priced then our affiliates and sears does not help support this site like APP and RepairClinic, but in this case I did look and sears was cheaper.

Sears Parts has it for $407.99

Do you plan on fixing it or buying a new washer?

The owner my neighbor wants to fix it, because it is 24 wide and will fit in her space.  I say new.

Bruce not only finds and repairs a component, he finds the source of the failure and redoes that to what the original intent was. The part is not only repaired, it is upgraded!
