There is only one model number listed on the model/serial number tag that is located on the dryer. Is it a DLE2512W or a DLG2522W?

One is a gas model and the other is a electric dryer.

I would guess the model number information you just posted was from the owners manual and not from the dryer itself. LG uses the same owners manual for both them model dryers.

The filter light is controlled by the temp thermister, and usually results from a blocked vent. Try the dryer with no exhaust hose attached to see if it repeats. The manual for the dryer will show you how to test the thermister electronically as well. If the filter is clean and the blower is putting out sufficient air, then the thermister or the user interface board has failed.
