Washer stops mid cycle and then the start button flashes

Won't complete a cycle stops then the start button flashes you push start and it starts over but stops again and does not complete a cycle.

What part of the cycle does the washer first stop in? Is the washer full of water or empty once it stops?

5 minutes into the cycle, two things are going on...the temp sensor is checking the water temps in the tub and the water level switch is monitoring the level.

Are you getting both hot and cold water into the machine?
Does there appear to be enough water in the tub when the fault occurs...or too much?
Is there a fault code to go along with the display flashing?

Ok after more interpretation...the cycle runs into the wash and at the time of drain and then spin, it stops, you can push the button and it starts up for a few seconds then stops again.  A "repair" tech said it is a microprocessor, this is a local guy that does side work.  Ive looked online and the microprossor is $650 new.  WTF.  Any other ideas before I tell her it is time to junk the machine?

The MCU, is that the same part that is $650?  This is the little bitty Whirlpool front loader.

The model number you listed (LHW0050PQ) should have another number at the end.

I tried to look up the motor control factory part number for your model, but there are different part numbers depending on that last digit that is missing from your model number.

I seen one motor control board at our affiliates part site for only $131, but I need that last number that is missing from your model number to make sure I post the correct part number for you.

Please post the full model number that is listed on the model/serial number tag that is located on your washer so I can post the correct part number for your motor control.

I looked up the MCU and come up with part # 8182643.

It's not a cheap part!  

AppliancePartsPros.com has it for $489.75

RepairClinic.com has it for $494.70

I don't normally even look at the sears parts site being they are often higher priced then our affiliates and sears does not help support this site like APP and RepairClinic, but in this case I did look and sears was cheaper.

Do you plan on fixing it or buying a new washer?

The owner my neighbor wants to fix it, because it is 24 wide and will fit in her space.  I say new.
