We have just purchased an LG WT1150CW top-load washing machine. The washer works fine, but we are bewildered by the liquid bleach dispenser located in the front-left section of the machine. The manual seems to suggest that bleach that is added here before beginning the wash will be dispensed during the washing cycle, but anything we pour into the dispenser immediately runs down onto the clothes in the drum.
Looking closer at it, there is absolutely nothing below the dispenser to catch and hold the liquid bleach. I can move my hand freely between the bottom of the dispenser and the top of the drum. Initially, I thought the hole in the dispenser was a "trap door" designed to open during the wash cycle, but it is nothing more than a hole molded into the dispenser. I can stick my pinky finger from below into the hole in the dispenser, so there's no reason to expect the bleach not to run down on the clothes.
I'm confused how this dispenser is supposed to work. What am I missing? Thanks very much for your help.
