In Ceiling Electric Radiant Heat

Got an open heater in the ceiling.  I've heard of applying high voltage to the heater causing it to arc at the break. Dig out the plaster at the burn mark, patch the break and replaster.  Is this a valid repair? I have a couple of old tube tvs sitting around.  Would a flyback transformer work for the high voltage?  My first inclination is to run but she is a good customer so I figure I'll research it first.

That method sometimes works on motors with an open winding. You get a great big transformer out of an old microwave and zap the motor for about 30 seconds. Sometimes that welds the broken wire in a motor closed and the motor is fixed. I would not recommend you try it on a persons home. LOL

one of those "light sticks" that are used to find the burned-out (series) Christmas tree light bulb may work.

It senses the voltage along the wire, and, when it stops sensing....
