hello and thanks in advance for your help.

the dryer (it's electric) was purchased new in 2001 and i have had no problems with it till now.

so.. last night i set the dryer, but accidentally left the setting just past the 'More Dry' setting.. so the dryer just kept going all night.

this morning the dryer was still going and i turned it off. the clothes seemed warm.. but i wouldn't say HOT.  they sure were dry though.

now the dryer will not turn on at all.

can anyone please tell me what happened and if this could be an 'easy' fix ?

Model 110.60702990

i really need this to be easy and inexpensive.  i can't afford this right now.

thanks again.

Unplug the dryer.

Unscrew the back of the dryer.   (1/4 screws)

Take a multi meter an check the thermal fuse for continuity.

Check this video out.

There's more to it then just this, but we need to know the state of this fuse before going any further.  We will get you running O0

Hi,

Please post the model number for us. The model number can be found on the model/serial number tag that is often located near the inside of the dryer door.

Hope you find our website helpful.

If the fuse is bad look for reasons why it overheated.

The control thermostat would be a suspect part since the dryer was set for a automatic setting and not timed dry.

Since it ran all night, and did not overheat, then there was no heat? Check the thermal fuse at the top of the heater. Is it open?

i removed the fuse as advised and had it checked. the fuse appears to still be good and working.

any idea what else the problem could be ?

once again.. the dryer setting was just past the 'more dry' setting ans stayed on all night. dryer was still running in the morning..  but now will not start.

thanks again for all the help... and i appreciate any additional advice you can offer.

Did you check both fuses? There is one on top of the element housing?
