GE Dishwasher will not re-start after door is opened????

I have an older GE Dishwasher (PotScrubber 900) that started this problem a few weeks ago.  

I can load up the dishes and start the wash cycle.  Once started if for some reason you have to open the door, which stops the machine, when you close the door and re-latch it simply will not start up again.  All you hear is a hum sound from the motor.  If I let it set for a while then you can restart it.

I've also noticed on a few occasions where just trying to use it after a few days it also will not start ... just the hum sound.  I turn it off/on a few times then let it set (1 or 2 hours) and the it will start the cycle and finish.

Any help will be appreciated.

You may have a pump shaft bearing trying to seize.
You may have something in the sump blocking the grinder wire from turning.
Remove the plastic cover in the back portion of the tub.,2 screws come out.
Remove the filter insert.
Carefully feel inside for an obstruction. It could be broken glass. There may also be a piece of string or plastic wrapped around the grinder wire.
If there is no obstruction,the pump seal may be the culprit.
It is not replaceable,the pump/motor combo is replaceable.

Thanks for the reply jumptrout51 .... Kind of figured it was something involved motor.  I will check out your suggestions.  Since it's the original unit put into the house when built back in 1985, I'm probably better off just replacing it.
