kenmore washer will not tumble or spin

Will only fill and drain.  Motor does not move at all or make any sound.  Timer sits on drain on final spin.

I am sorry, I forgot to say, I checked the belt and it is ok, the drum rolls freely and the belt is attached securely.  That was my first thought.

The owner of the washer stated before it was getting "stuck" on cycles.  Now it just fills and sits there.
