Kenmore 80 series washer stopped working

I looked up the model number of your washer and found that is uses this time, part # 3953156

I think a new timer is going to be cheaper then what you can buy a used washer for.

I replaced the timer with a new one and the tub filled with water and then nothing except a hum and a ticking noise coming from the timer (more quiet and different than the original timer).

This sucks! The place I bought it from was the only one in town who had it in stock, so I payed the extra $20 to try to have it fixed for my wife tonight. Unfortunately, their return policy stated that the part must be unopened to return.

That's a bad motor, part # 3352287


Might be something in the pump or a bad cap but I think that is the motor.

I have the same washer. It wouldn't drain after it filled. I wasn't here when it went down but it doesn't agitate either. I have the whole thing ripped apart. Any procedure to safely test the motor? I can spin the driveshaft with a wrench with the pump off and it spins the tub. I will bypass the switch again but am curious about testing the motor.
