The washer is a 5500 (MAW5500B**). Someone gave it to me for free cause the tub bearings were completley shot, seal too. I have 3 extra older Maytag Neptunes for parts with good tubs so I did a complete tub swap on it.

Would reworking the control board and replacing the burned up resistors resolve the issue?

The rings on the resistors are color coded. You can tell the value by looking at the rings. Take the whole board to Radio Shack and look in their resistor drawer for a matching resistor.
Resistor 101
You can try and figure out that mumbo jumbo or like I said take the failed ones down to the nearest Radio Shack

I should have qualified the question, as I was out on a job and did not have the board in front of me.  Yes, I know how to read resistor values via color codes.  Best regards.
