LG Refrigerator, LDC22720SW. Found a fuse mounted on the main control that was blown.  I jumped it out and expected to see fireworks or smoke or something.  But all it did was work.  When I first plugged it in it drew about 3 amps for a few seconds.  I assume that was a self test for the defrost circuit. Then when the compressor kicked on it was drawing about an amp. Obviously it needs the control replaced but what caused the fuse to blow.  I'm afraid if I just replace the control it will blow again.

The closest diagtam I can find to your model shows 2 fuses.
Inline with L1 and another inline to the heater circuit.
Obviously your L1 fuse blew.
Could not find a amp value for the fuses.
It can't be too high.
Place your amp meter on the compressor circuit and check LRA. If it is near or at top end specs,could be a compressor going bad.
Of course it could have been a main service power surge.

The LG manuals found on Appliancedigest are a great help.
The troubleshooting refers to the main power fuse.
It simply says,No Power....replace the fuse.

I have seen this before, I simply changed the Control board and all is well.  That particular customer did have a thunderstorm the day before.

LG's use a Surge Suppressor (VR1) across the main power line.

The Fuse is designed to blow if there's a voltage spike on the main power line large enough to cause the Surge Supressor to clamp.

Replace the Fuse and check the operation of the Fridge.....

This fuse is soldered to the control board and doesn't look like it's meant to be replaced.  However, I got an idea.  I got a $2.69 inline fuse holder from Radio Shack.  I'll remove the fuse from the board and solder the holder leads in it's place.  Then we'll have a replaceable fuse.

I went back this morning and soldered on the new fuse holder.  At this point it's working good.  They're going to give it a few days before they load it back up.
