JennAir Oven: Broiler Stuck On, Error Code F2
« on: September 09, 2010, 09:13:56 AM »
Hi:

I have a Jenn-Air SVE47100B Oven Range that has a stuck broiler (won't shut off) and a F2 code.

I was using the Bake function last nite when the oven suddenly started beeping--I noticed the broiler was stuck on and wouldn't shut off. The control panel was displaying a F2 error code.

From what I've deduced (looking at Service Manual) it looks like that comes from the Oven Sensor and indicates that the sensor is sensing temps over the normal range for baking. I can't figure out, though, what is causing the broiler to stay on. I'm assuming there's a short or other problem in the control panel module, which is one single sealed unit.

Any suggestions on what to test or check? I'm thinking the sensor is probably fine (it's sensing high temps in Bake) and the control panel is causing the broiler to stay on. Thanks!

-Mark-

Follow the wires from the sensor to the control board and check the ohms there. It should be around 1050-1100 ohms, if the oven is at room temperature. If it is close to the correct ohms replace the control board. Probally a stuck relay on it.

Thanks for the reply--I can't find a separate control board for the SVE47100B

I'm assuming it's part of the clock assembly part # 71002331R

Would you agree?

Thanks for the reply!

Sounds like a stuck broil relay.

There's a serial number break for the clock.

01-14 is part number 71002331

15 and above is part number 74004746

Yes it is 1 part. Clock or electronic control same thing. Whats the first 2 numbers of your serial?

First 2 numbers are 11 (serial is 11248762SQ), so I assume I'd need 71002331.

Thanks again.

Someone suggested it might be the relay in the back of your oven; he thinks it might've gone bad and the contacts have welded together.

Does this make sense?

Manufacturer's Number: 71002453

I was going by the wiring diagram. It doesn't show separate relay boards, but in the parts look up I did find 2 relay boards on the back of your model oven. If your oven has these... then the Power Relay Board is the problem (if the sensor ohms were good).

How's the Broil Element ?

Partially shorted to chassis (ground) ?

If it is a "stuck" Relay, it could be replaced (soldered)

I don't know that it's shorted—the broiler element itself looks fine, no obvious defects. I can't easily see the relay; have to yank out the stove.

I've ordered the double relay board (bake/broil), will look at existing one when it arrives, but guessing that's the problem.

You are correct. F-2 is a relay  failure.
