HELP! I've inherited a Kenmore series 70 GAS dryer, Model 76722690 76722 that i've had for about a year in the house. At first, I had to do some relatively major cleaning of the dryer vent, as the previous owner didn't know how to take care of his stuff. Got the dryer into working order pretty quickly after a thorough cleaning. Please note that even though Sears has this listed as an electric dryer, it is indeed a gas dryer.
Now, i'm actually experiencing a new issue. The dryer won't stop running! Setting the dryer on AutoDry I, Normal dry, Perm Press and the control knob doesn't budge. Dryer produces heat, clothes are getting dry, but, it's not moving through the cycle correctly. I don't think it is the control knob mechanism as the timed dry appears to be working correctly.
So, checking the manual, I see that AutoDry I is dependent on at least one thermostat. I'm thinking that the thermostat(s) is/are going / gone bad, but, not really sure as to which thermostat is the applicable stat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
