Maytag washer fills with water when not running

I have a Maytag washer that when it isn't running intermittently fills with water. When we fill our pool, the washer will even overflow onto the floor. Thinking it must be some sort of a valve issue. Any help? Thanks.

You would know for sure if it did it without power to the machine.

Possibly a bad water valve, possibly a bad timer also. Check for voltage at the water valve. I own 3 of these right now that I am using for parts.
