How to find screw that came off pot while being washed.

My wife has informed me that while washing dishes a pot handle fell off and the screw holding it on has vanished into the dishwasher. How can I find this screw and retrieve it before damage is done?

First I would use a flashlight and small mirror to closely look all around the edge of the pump from inside the dishwasher for the screw before I started taking anything apart.

Chances are the screw is just laying in there around the edge of the pump.

If you feel you must take it apart this manual should help you.

 A pencil size telescoping magnet comes in handy for those jobs also.
