Amana Gas 4 burner Cooktop Electrical Schematic
« on: August 15, 2010, 05:06:19 AM »
all 4 burners are sparking at the same time, and do not quit upon or after ignition, have cleaned debris off ignitor sparkers on each burner, replaced spark module, spark sounds like its leaking to the burner pan ground,so tried to isolate all l.v. and h.v. wires from the case, I know on a viking cooktop that if module isn't wired right to the burners they will all fire, don't know what else to replace, but would like to see a schematic just to verify wire connections. Thank You...Daniel

All four burnerd are suppose to spark at the same time.  If you look at the switches, you'll, see they are wired all together.  I bet you need a new switch, or sometimes it comes in a switch kit all pre-wired.

O.K. Thank You for the info.,I see you can't just buy a kit, just each individual switch and I can only see the H.V. leads and not the L.V. harness, which I can make I guess. Again Thank You

There is no Low Voltage on this unit, there is only high (120v) and higher (5,000 VDC) at the output terminals. This is not a re-ignition type ignitor, meaning that all burners spark when only one  valve is turned. Be sure all of your brner switches are oriented securely on the valve stems.

One of your individual burner switches is likeely bad, causing power to the 2 main leads on the spark module. Your job is to find and replace the offending switch, which should be relatively easy if you  turn off power to the range and unplug each switch to check for resistance. This usually occurs when grease  gets into a switch and shorts the contacts, but can be a mechanical failure as well within the switch. Since the ignitor spark is only seeking a path back to ground, any hairline crack in the ceramic ignitor electrode can re-direct the spark to the main top without lighting the burner.
