Kenmore Fridge Thermostat and damper control

The Fridge side thermostat/damper control is sticking in the off, Sometimes when you turn it from 0 to colder, it will open the damper door, sometimes not, when it does not, if you tap it it will work as it should.

When looking for this control, the parts places only sell the whole thermostat and damper($200.00+) not just the thermostat like you can for the freezer side($100.00).

Is there in fact a replacement control, or are there contacts I can clean up?

That Machine is built by Frigidaire.  And as far as I know, The assembly is the only way to get the damper.  Kinda BS.  I would call Frigidaire and give em hell about their replacement part..  PS.  Don't tell them it is a kenmore machine. They may not talk to you.

I agree, its very much BS. I can buy the freezer thermostat, the actual damper itself, the circuit board etc. etc., all separately.

But I have to buy the WHOLE electrical system if the fresh food thermostat goes out? WTF

For a redneck fix, disconnect the damper motor when it's open.  Cover the opening with some foil tape and poke holes in it until the fridge temperature is right.
